Question & Answers

Q hello. we just installed this and can't get to turn on. is there a way to bypass the magnetic CoverStart switch? thanks
A I am not an installer, so I don't know ours works great. Some people hae trouble finding the right spot magneticly
A We recommend that you contact Kitchenaid directly for trouble shooting. They can be reached @ 1 (800) 541–6390
A I am sorry but I do not have an answer to that. Mine works just fine. Make sure that the magnetic collar snaps in properly. I had some challenges with that myself. Also make sure that you don't put the black cap/lid upside down - it has two positions: one as a switch (lets the water flow and triggers the garburator when rotated in position) and the other one as a sink plug (doesn't let the water to flow and does not trigger the garburator). Good luck!
Q I'm replacing a plug in. Does this model come as a plug in?
A This unit is not supplied with the power cord but you can purchase the power cord separately or use your existing plug in cord.
A The unit comes with pre-installed connectors where you can attach the power cord (which you plug into an electrical outlet). This is the setup I have. I do not remember though if the unit came with its own power cord (to be attached) or I just reused the old one from the unit I was replacing. So the answer to your to your question is "Yes", but you may have to get your own power cord (if it doesn't come with one). You can get it from Amazon for about $10. It is a great unit, very quiet compared with the old one. The cappacity is not as big as the old one but it is not bad. I also like the magnetic switch, encased in plastic, there is no potential for rust. I am very happy with it overall. I hope that helps.
Q I have this model and the stopper with a magnet is broken. Where could I get this part?
A The manufacturer part number for the stopper is W10171477A. We do not carry this part but recommend contacting Kitchenaid directly @ kitchenaid.com or 1-800-422-1230.
Q Is this a "plug in" or hard wire model?
A Sorry for the delay. It has about 4 ft of cord with a 3-prong plug. Magnetic switch in the drain
A This one is to be Hard Wired. Copy and past the link below into a browser for full instruction details: http://www.kitchenaid.com/assets/pdfs/product/ZINSTALL/KBDS100T_Installation%20Instruction_EN.pdf
A Hardwire. Instructions direct you to wire it to a wall switch, although the batch fed disposal is operated by inserting and positioning the stopper.
Q when will this model be available?
A This item is now in stock.
Q Where is the reset button on this unit??
A The reset button is located on the bottom of the unit.
Q Why did you choose this?
A replace existing one
