Question & Answers

Q I now use a GAC-BB by Pentek (10x2.5) and I want a filter that handles more in the form of bacteria and cryptosporedium, is this a good substitution?
A I am not sure if I can answer your question or not. We are full time RVers and travel coast to coast. Last year we were staying in the California Delta were most water is from wells. We have always used a 25micron whole house type filter on our water supply. However in the campground we were staying the water still had a light brown color and I noticed particles floating in a class of water. We immediately started using a Britta filter pitcher for water to be consumed. I then ordered the 1micron filter Filtrex for 2 reasons first it was a 1 micron and second it was more green than others. It made a world of difference, water output was clear and nothing could be seen in a clear glass even after sitting for a while and being shaken up. I would highly recommend this filter, it has the added bonus of being a carbon block filter. It did slow the flow of water but not very much. Our final setup was first the 25micron then the 1 micron and finally a water softener. I hope this helped.
A While this filter helps in the reduction of Cysts, I do not think it is what you are looking for. The only two things that I am aware of that will remove both Bacteria and Cryptosporedium are the Ceramic filters, Black Berkey purification elements which are used in different types of systems and then there is the UV systems that will take care of that as well, but even the UV systems must have a filtration system in addition to them.
Q Why did you choose this?
A We are full Time Rvers and some of the campgrounds have suspect water. I have been using a 25micron filter but it needed some help. This filter by itself worked amazingly, however pairing it up with the 25micron first and then this filter is working beyond expectations. I order 2 replacements because of our travels don't always allow receiving shipments.
