5 Micron Pleated Polyester Sediment Filter 4.5 x 20

Polyester Pleated Cartridges are manufactured from durable polyester to provide you with a superior pleated filter that is washable, reusable and durable. Filters are chemical and  bacteria resistant, have a great dirt holding capacity and extend the time between filter changes.

Polyester Pleated Cartridges are suitable for a variety of uses and can be used in residential, commercial and industrial applications. The media is pleated around a polypropylene core for added strength and the ends are immersed in a thermo setting vinyl plastisol. Embedding and sealing each end of the pleat in this fashion fuses the three components together forming a unified end cap and gasket.

Question & Answers

Q My present water filter (10 x 2.5in) handles 15,000/gal. I'm on a Geo/Thermo Heating and I pump 13 gal/min in the winter to heat my home -- 15 - 20,000/Wk in Jan.&Feb. I'm looking to increase to at least 45,000/gal per Filter How many gallons will this 20x4.5 filter handle -- 15, 30, 45, 60 thousand?? I haven't seen it listed Thanks, Bill
A I don't think there is an answer to your specific question. It depends on the quality of your water and how quickly it clogs the filter. I think you might mean the filter becomes clogged after 15K gal from sediment. If that is the case, given pleated area size you might be looking at around 45K before needing to replace the filter under similar situations. However, this is not a very good way to think about this. Overall, given your water flow, you want the 20"x4.5" filters. They have a much higher flow rate (allowing 13 gpm when significantly clogged) and will take longer before needing to be swapped out. 1) The 20x4.5 will handle about 25gpm 2) It normally would be replaced in about 6 months or normal used. 3) they can be washed (with a hose) and reused. So, technically no limit to gal/filter. What is not talked about is how clogged it will become based on your water quality. How much sediment you have in your water. We have a well with a spin down filter (200 grid? for about 85 micron) for large sediment and a 5 micron sediment filter. We use about 1000 gal/wk (much less than you), but have iron or iron bacteria problems. After 9 months (so 46K gal), the sediment filter gets clogged with iron or iron bacteria to the point it is like "creamy peanut butter" all over the pleats. Even with all that junk, there is no pressure drop across the filter and no noticeable restriction of water flow. I'm not sure how given what it looked like. After cleaning the filter, it was put back into use without any problems. So, you need to try to figure out how much fine sediment your water has and estimate how quickly it would become clogged. This tells you how often you have to change out the filter. I'd recommend buying two filters so you can swap them out and clean the old one and also consider adding a spin down filter to catch larger sediment if that is a problem (smallest would be 200 grid screen or I think 85 micron).
Q What kind of housing do I need for this filter?
A This is an example of the type of housing that you can use for this filter. A lot really depends on the port size you will need. http://www.waterfiltersfast.com/YTB-20-BL34-PR-Heavy-Duty-Blue-Filter-Housing-for-for-Full-FlowBB-20-inch-x-4-12-inch-Cartridge-with-34-inch-Port_p_6269.html
Q do you stock at 25 micron version of this filter?
A We only stock the 1, 5, and 50 micron versions of this filter.
Q Why did you choose this?
A good price on product and shipping
