Question & Answers

Q what is the coupon code for this product?
A There is not a coupon code available for this product.
Q I installed these and my fridge still says 18% left. Did they expire?
A You will need to reset the indicator after installing a new filter.
A My new fridge does not show % expired. Instead, it shows it in 4 blocks or 4 quarters. When I install the new filter I have to reset the gage. Always when I reset it, the filter lasts for approximately 6 months, give or take a week or two. This covers a 2 adult household for this time. I would not think these expire filters 18% before you use them -- in fact, how could that be?
A Did you reset the filter install button when you put the new filter in?
Q are4396710 and 4396841 compable? What's the difference?
A They both will work in the same refrigerator models. The 4396841 is a "Fast Fill" while the 4396710 actually removes more Contaminants.
A Yes, they are comparable as Whirlpool Corp manufactures Kitchenaid refrigerators.
A Both will work, 4396841T improved and maybe a few dollars more.
Q how to replace them?
A On my whirlpool refrigerator on the exterior there is a vent at the bottom. on that vent located below the freezer dood is a push button. when you push the button the filter and filter holder pop out. you can the srew the filter off the holder and then screw the new filter on. then you can align the two water flow tabs with the holes and push the unit until it locks into place.
A In the front bottom of the refrigerator there is a plastic grill. You should see a round filter cover on the freezer side of the grill. There is a button to push next to the round cover and when that is pushed it will eject the filter. Twist off the filter cover and attach it to the new filter. Remove the red covers on the filter tips and align the filter to the filter holes in the back (look at how they were aligned when you removed the old one). Push it all the way it and it should lock into place. Once you are done with that you will need to run a pitcher or two through your water line, the water line will have air in it and that will come out. Then you can push the water filter indicator button 10 times quickly until it turns back to green.
A There is a decorative cap on the filter. Rotate that counter clockwise about 15 degrees, you will feel it click. Remove the decorative cap and press the lever/button to the left of the filter. Pressing this will release the filter and it will "pop" out a little. Then just pull the filter out. Don't twist the filter, as the connection to the refrigerator is not in the center. Push the filter into the receptacle until it "clicks" into place, in the same orientation as when you removed it. It will only go in one way. Replace the decorative cap with the lip of the cap up and slightly twisted to the left, then turn it clockwise until it stops, about 15 degrees.
A Kneel down to observe your refrigerator's grille. Notice the round head of the filter peeking out from the grille. Push the button to the side of the filter, and pull the old filter away from the grille to remove. Twist the plastic cap on the old filter counterclockwise to remove. Dispose of the old filter. Replace the white plastic cap on the head of the new filter. Insert the replacement filter into the grille. Push the filter in place until it clicks. Place a tall glass or cup beneath your refrigerator's water dispensing unit. Press the water dispenser lever at 5 second intervals -- 5 seconds on followed by 5 seconds off -- over a period of 2 minutes to flush air from the filter.
Q Do these water filters have an expiration date?
A No, these filters do not have an expiration date. The carbon inside the filters are only activated by water once installed.
Q Is it compatible with KitchenAid / Whirlpool Pur Filter 3 pack 4396508 (3 PACK) that I ordered before?
A No, the 4396841 are completely different filters than the 4396508. My records indicate that you did purchased a four pack of the 4396841 last. If you are looking to filter out more contaminants, then you may also purchase filters 4396710.
A Look at the illustration in the ad. Compare that with what you are using. There are major differences in filters so it should be easy to discern if you are ordering the right filter. The only difference might be the one is basic and the other improved but both will fit because the housing is identical..
