Your air conditioner furnace filters size is measured by the width x length x thickness in inches. For example, a pleated air filter that is 20x25x1 means 20 inches wide by 25 inches long by 1 inch thick. Most residential air conditioner furnace filters are 1” thick. The actual measurements of each air conditioner furnace filters are usually about half an inch less than the listed size. The actual size of our 20x25x1” air conditioner furnace filter is 19 ½ x 24 ½ x ¾”. This is normal. Most air conditioner furnace filters have the size printed on them, so you just have to find your existing air conditioner furnace filters. Sometimes homes have 2 or 3 different sizes of air conditioner furnace filters in various locations in your home. Again, consult your HVAC system’s operating manual for information. Our filters may vary up to 1/8 of an inch due to the nature of the filter manufacturing process.

Air filters are ranked in a minimum efficiency rating value MERV system. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter can filter out all airborne particulates. Since we are constantly trying to improve indoor air quality, it only makes sense that we would offer the MERV 13 16x25x1 filter.

16x25x1 MERV 13 filters are right on the cusp of being classified as “medium efficiency MERV pleated air filters” and “high efficiency MERV pleated air filters.” A 16x25x1 filter that has received a rating of MERV 7-13 is about as effective as true HEPA filters at controlling a majority of airborne particles. However, this process happens more effectively as the filter gets dirty. In contrast, a 16x25x1 filter with MERV ratings of 13-16 is able to remove and capture smaller particle sizes even before the filter starts to become dirty. With the first air exchange, MERV 13 filters have over a 75% efficiency of removing airborne particulates that are between 0.3u and 1.0u in size. When the average particle size is 1.0u to 3.0U, the filters efficiency jumps to over 90%!

We are very proud that we can now offer the great MERV 13 16x25x1 filter for home use. Until recently, MERV 13 air filters were commonly found in communication centers, telephone terminal rooms, biological laboratories, biomedical laboratories, chemistry laboratories, and physics laboratories. This means the type of filter should be selected based on the specifics of the building location, occupancy, air quality issues, and type and operation of the HVAC system. However, it is reasonable to specify at least MERV 13 filters to maintain good indoor air quality in common types of spaces.

16x25x1 MERV 13 filters are pleated and electrostatically charged. The electrostatic charge of the 16x25x1 filter works as a magnet drawing airborne particles to the filter. A lot of schools are starting to implement MERV 13 electrostatic air filters to help combat children’s respiratory infections and the effects of pollutants.
